Early 70's Gibson's get a bad rap. This particular instrument is just spectacular. 178xxx Serial number indicates 71-75. Gorgeous CHERRY RED finish, with dark mahogany back and neck. The body is pancake, and the neck is 3 piece laminated. The neck has an exceptional " 1960" style profile: nice and wide but shallow. The jumbo frets should probably be replaced, for optimum playability. I have seen similar instruments selling for well over $4500.The following hardware is not original:
The knobs.
about 1/2 the tuner screws. The top pickguard screw. The bridge pickup. The pickup switch switchcap. Possibly one of the mismatched strap pegs. Comes with blue lined Hardshell Case; Im assuming it's original. This is marked 2 so it was a factory second. Perhaps that explains the unusual (but not unheard of ) black plastic rings around the stop tailpiece stud holes.

Action is super low, neck is straight. Case is in good condition. A killer axe. Original replacement pickups are selling for 125 - 150 if one wanted to restore the bridge pickup. This is a very rare Cherry Finish, and a fantastic instrument. Usa shipping is 65. via usps priority. All international buyers must contact us for an accurate shipping cost.
